Since September of 2001 Sherrise has been a defense attorney, practicing mainly in the areas of traffic and criminal defense. Her myriad of experiences helps defend good people that have found themselves in a bad situation. Not only does Sherrise prepare for each client’s case, she has the ability of any good trial attorney to think on her feet and fights for the best possible resolution of their legal matter.

Sherrise earned her law degree in 1996 from Regent University in Virginia and her undergraduate degree from Fayetteville State University in North Carolina. Prior to going to college, Sherrise was in the United States Army where she held positions as a communications specialist, a leadership instructor, was a paratrooper and a criminal investigator. During her eight years of active duty she spent three years in Germany and traveled extensively in Europe. Sherrise retired from the military after completing thirteen additional years in the U.S. Army Reserves.

After Sherrise graduated from law school she was selected after a nationwide search as the first female Assistant Commandant at the Virginia Military Institute. She assisted the Institute in the successful assimilation into a co-education environment, while being monitored by the U.S. Justice Department. Then she began her practice of law as an Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney, where Sherrise handled cases from simple misdemeanors to complicated homicides.
